Millennium Global Management System
*Updated on February 2012, October, 2011, June 9, 2010, July 2, 2007
I have recently concluded testing both the Professional series (DOS) and the Millennium series of programs in the VISTA and Windows 7 environment and found the following:
DOS Professional series programs
These work exceptionally well in Vista32 without any problems, however these programs will not work using Windows7-64 bit.
*Recently however, certain Legacy Install programs will also not work correctly when used on a Computer that is running VISTA or Windows7. Please install the programs/updates on your Server or on an XP computer and copy the contents to the VISTA/Windows7 EST folder.
·
Most Vista/Windows7 Computers are sold without serial or parallel ports.·
USB converters are available for both parallel and serial to permit continued use of those products which rely on the use of said ports (namely the KeySys data collection devices and many existing printers)·
See instructions below for finding the DOS Command Prompt
Windows Millennium series programs
These work well except for the following problems.
·
Help windows (if available) will not function in Vista as currently written however, *by downloading WinHlp32.exe from Microsoft, all HELP screens will work properly. Use the following link or copy directly to your browser. If that fails, google microsoft winhlp32 for the link..·
Reports: Some reports, depending on the configuration of the computer, may not display correct information in the reports. If you find that they do not print properly, you may need to use the export utility (available on each report screen) to send the data to a PDF file and from there attach to an Email or print to your printer.
I hope you find this information reassuring. If you are still using the older Professional series programs, then be assured that they work extremely well except that Vista has hidden the DOS prompt so it takes a little while to find it to load the software... see below.
NOTE: Legacy (DOS) Programs will NOT run on Windows 7- 64 bit. You must use the 32-bit operating system.
Instructions for locating the Vista Command Prompt: Click START, select "All Programs" and then select "Accessories." Look down the list for the word "Command Prompt." If you want to create an icon on the desktop with the Command Prompt, simply right click the "Command Prompt" name and left click on properties. Then select the word "Copy". Move your cursor to the desktop; right click and select "Paste". Then move the icon to wherever you want it positioned on the desktop.
